Subhash Ghai held an interesting two-hour Q&A session with Director Imtiaz Ali on his two films 'Love Aaj Kal' and 'Jab We Met' amongst 350 students of Whistling Woods International, Mumbai this Wednesday.

On his views on the change in Indian cinema and in the audience of today, Imtiaz asserted "It is the audience that has changed a lot - it has evolved and moved far ahead and is more intelligent than we (filmmakers) think they are. Imtiaz described the market at present, as 'multi-segmented' with various kinds of films, be they of the earlier vintage kind, or cutting-edge new cinema, accepted if they are well made"

On the lack of importance of Lyrics in today's films - he said, "it is very sad that Poetry and Literature is not as much a part of our lives as it used to be; we have to learn to use lyrics as a tool to take the story forward."
During the session with the students Imtiaz revealed that he thought it would be a great idea to begin Love Aaj Kal with a break-up of a relationship and then compare it with love stories of the 60s...
Complimenting Subhash Ghai for setting up such a huge and world-class Institute like WWI, Imtiaz assured the students that he would surely prefer to work with graduates from an Institute like this and said, "I am sure students coming out from Whistling Woods International will make the film industry stronger and a better place to be. Training from an Institution like this would surely will help you expedite your career in the Industry." |
