It surely is great news for all the acting aspirants in Mumbai and other parts of the counrty that Subhash Ghai has engaged the best acting guru from Hollywood Mr. Rob Reece to start training Actors with a variety of courses with durations ranging from three months to two years at Whistling Woods International. The 20-acre campus based in Film city will for the first time introduce short courses and workshops in Acting. The 2-year full time Acting course at Whistling Woods was introduced in July 2006 with Naseeruddin Shah as it's founder. "An Actor takes 15 years to show his full talent or prove what he is capable of" is a well-known fact in the world of theatre and cinema. Still after a doing a lot of research work at 30 best acting schools of the world I came to the conclusion before starting WWI that every aspirant who has talent, needs a minimum of two-years of basic training to become a competitive actor in the professional world. The two-year training takes them a long way and helps them take on his/her career for a minimum of two decades. Today I can see WWI graduates in acting have much more maturity and confidence and I am sure, given the right opportunity they will shine better than many stars. This is what encouraged MUKTA ARTS LTD to produce two movies a year with graduates of WWI. We are already making a film titled 'Paschim Express with Love' which has WWI graduates as its lead actors. The film will go on floors at the end of March". 'I personally have been a great admirer of Rob Reece since I watched him take acting classes last semester at WWI. He took one class inviting all students from Mumbai schools in which 25 students from Anupam Kher's acting school also participated. During these workshops I found Rob's teachings work like magic for acting students. I too learnt many things about a real performance .The Board at WWI hence took the decision to request Rob Reece to join WWI Actors? Studio as the Head of Department .Today I am glad that he has joined and is grooming actors to be screen actors with real substance. I had to bow down to Rob's suggestion and the recommendation of our Dean John Lee that we must introduce short term courses for talented aspirants, which would help them decide their career path. Today Whistling Woods has announced short courses and workshops for professional actors too just like in Hollywood, where established actors and stars go back to school to hone their skills further.' said Subhash Ghai "The workshop by Rob Reece was a refreshing experience. It taught me how to relate to co-actors and has thus enhanced my performance abilities", said Jasbeer Chawla, acting alumni WWI. |
